Oasis RV Center, Tucson, AZ. Dropped our trailer off in November for repairs.
Here are some before and after pictures to show work done by Oasis RV Center in Tucson, AZ. Cordial to work with and very open communications.
Left Longmont December 26, driving all the way. Picked up the repaired trailer and towed it to Connie's sister's (and Husband Roger) place in Gilbert on December 28. Was able to park it in the street during our 4 day visit; leaving for Boulder City, Nevada on New Year's day. |
Top pictures: Harvest Bible Chaple Chandler, AZ; Connie's sister's (and husband Roger) home in Gilbert, AZ where we visited December 27 till New Year's 2014 day; Connie, sister Carol, Carol's granddaughters Mackenzie and Jenna playing Disney Hedbanz game; Carol sewing on her new Bernina 350 machine that she bought when Connie took her shopping; Joshua tree forest on US 93 between Wikieup & Wickenburg in route to Boulder City, NV; Our RV park in Boulder City.
Boulder Dam is absolutely awesome
Fiddlesticks Quilting shop in Boulder City. Connie spent a couple Wednesdays here for quilting day at the store. Met Rose and some other nice ladies.
Wednesday (January 15, 2014) trip to Las Vegas. Wow! Why we love staying in Boulder City!
Parked the big truck at Monte Carlo's "Short Term Parking". Stopped for a Happy Hour brew at the Pub when we walked through the Monte Carlo, then down the strip to Flamingo Road; over I15 to the Rio Casino. A little over a mile & a half. The Rio was packed so had what was to be a fun dinner out, at the Rio Delli. Wasn't too bad. Ed had time to walk back to get the truck and bring it over to the Rio Self Park, a chivalrous thing to do, saving Connie the dreaded walk back. Connie tolerated a Jazz piano pre-show until Ed returned just in time for the 9pm Penn & Teller show. Tickets compliments of Kara Coons, friend from Longmont, now living in LV. |
Sunday January 19, 2014
Attended church at Faith Christian in BC then came home (our Airstream) to settle in for an afternoon of football. Enjoyed watching the Broncos 26 to 16 win over the Patriots. Great game. Then watched the Seattle Seahawks come from behind to beat the 49ers 23 to 17. Now on to the Super Bowl February 2...we'll watch the game back home in Longmont. GO BRONCOS! |
January 20, 2014:
Another lazy day in Nevada.. Drove in to Henderson mid-day. Walked around Findley RV to check out some motorhomes and trailers. More reassurance that we love our Airstream. Then had to make an afternoon stop at Barley's Casino and brewery. Not many breweries in the area, and the few we found are smoking and the bar's all have electronic gaming consoles on each stool. Difficult to find room for your beer glass. We did enjoy a couple of their locally brewed beers, chatting with the bartender. Connie enjoyed her shrimp cocktail to hold her over till dinner...which Ed cooked some delicious burgers on the Weber. |
More hanging out at our trailer. Connie keeps very busy just sewing away and I've been pretty busy messing on my desktop...yes we brought the sewing machine and the desktop.
But we did take a bit of a break and rode bike a couple miles down to the Boulder Creek Golf Course...not to play golf, but to enjoy a draft brew at the clubhouse. Very nice joint. |
What did Connie do during her January Vacation in Boulder City...not Boulder County!
Wednesday January 22, 2014-Exercise day!
We rode our bikes to Boulder City in the morning to have breakfast at Mel's Diner. Only about 2 miles round trip. |
After breakfast, we drove out toward Hoover Dam, stopping at Lake Mead Visitor Center, then across the road to the Railroad Tunnel trail head. We hiked about 6 miles round trip. Pretty easy trail along the former RR that transported supplies when the dam was being built.
Ed posing along our Hike with a bit of Lake Mead in the background. The National Park Service claim that Lake Mead has over 500 miles of shoreline and is the largest "reservoir" in the United States! |
Drive south from the dam down 93 about 15 miles on the AZ side to exit down to Willow Beach in Black Canyon. A marina and fish hatchery on the Colorado, upper end of the Mojave Lake (Davis Dam down river).
The marina has a very nice 28 space full hookup RV park at $35/night, $17.50 with Senior Golden Pass. Saw Bighorn sheep along the road! |
Thursday January 23 - Eldorado Canyon! Breath taking!
After getting the laundry done and saying goodbye at Fiddlesticks, we drove down 95 toward Searchlight, exiting east toward the NV side of the Colorado through Eldorado Canyon via Nelson and the Techatticup store Canyon Gold Mine tours start (we didn't go).

Now that's a school bus!
Now that's a school bus! The little shop at Techatticup in Eldorado Canyon (in the background here) was quite unique and interesting. They told us this spot in the road is used as a site for many music videos, backdrop for model & celebrity shoots, and movies. They mentioned the 2001 movie 3000 Miles to Graceland with Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell.
